UK fans will be able to watch Rally Scotland live on the BBC

UK rally fans will be able to watch extensive live coverage of Rally Scotland on the BBC when the event joins the FIA World Rally Championship in 2027.

The BBC has agreed a three-year deal to broadcast the WRC across the UK from 2027 to 2029, bringing live stages from every round of the championship to BBC audiences.

The agreement will include five live stages plus the Power Stage from every WRC rally, 14 one-hour highlights programmes each season and additional digital content across BBC platforms.

Rally Scotland will receive extensive live coverage across all four days of competition, giving UK audiences free-to-air access to the country’s first WRC round since 2019.

Audiences will also be able to follow the action on BBC iPlayer.

Rhuanedd Richards, Director, BBC Nations, said:

“This is a fantastic addition to our sports portfolio with teams across Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland coming together to bring audiences one of the world’s most thrilling motorsport championships.

“The World Rally Championship combines elite sporting competition with dramatic locations and compelling stories, making it a natural fit for the BBC.

“The return of Rally Scotland to the WRC calendar is particularly exciting and we look forward to capturing all the thrills and excitement for audiences when it kicks off next year.”

Éric Boullier, CEO of WRC Promoter, said the agreement would give the championship the chance to reconnect with established rally fans while reaching a new generation.

Hugh Chambers, CEO of Motorsport UK, added:

“Bringing the World Rally Championship back to the UK is a major moment for our sport, and this BBC agreement gives it the national platform it deserves.

“Free-to-air coverage will help us reach long-standing fans, welcome new audiences and show why the WRC’s return in 2027 is such an important step for British motorsport.”

Rally Scotland will be based at The Event Complex Aberdeen, with competition taking place on forest gravel roads across north-east Scotland.

The exact 2027 dates will be confirmed when the FIA finalises the championship calendar.
