Join the volunteer team behind Rally Scotland’s WRC return

When the World Rally Championship returns to the UK with Rally Scotland in 2027, the spotlight will be on the cars, crews and gravel stages of north-east Scotland. But behind that spectacle will be another force: the volunteers who help make major rallies happen.

Every WRC round depends on an army of volunteers. They are the people who guide spectators, support stage teams, help manage car parks, assist with media and accreditation, work with officials and keep event areas moving safely. In motorsport, volunteers also fill specialist roles including marshals, scrutineers, timekeepers, recovery teams, radio crews and other officials.

For Rally Scotland, those roles will be crucial from the first recce to the finish podium. The event will be headquartered at Aberdeen’s P&J Live, with the stage action planned across gravel forest roads in the region. A WRC rally is not a single arena event. It moves through forests, service points, road sections and spectator zones. That scale creates many ways for people to get involved.

Aberdeen already knows what strong volunteer teams can do. The Tall Ships Races Aberdeen 2025 showed the city’s appetite for major events, with volunteers helping welcome international crews and visitors, support public information points, guide crowds and bring a warm local face to the festival. Rally Scotland will build on that same civic pride, with the energy of the city and shire helping to welcome rally fans, teams and media from across the UK and overseas.

You will not need to be a rally expert to register interest. Some roles will suit experienced motorsport marshals and officials. Others will suit people who know the area, enjoy helping visitors, want event experience, or simply want to play a part in a massive sporting weekend for Scotland.

Volunteering can also bring practical benefits. Rally Scotland aims to create chances for people to build skills in customer service, event operations, logistics, safety and teamwork. It is a way to get closer to the action, support local communities and help Scotland deliver a rally that feels rooted in the north-east.

More details on volunteer roles, training and timings will be shared as event planning develops.
